bleaching pink

I loved the way it fit after I took it in, I loved the idea if bleaching, and wasn't totally in love with the colors. I think it may be the pictures, it is a lot cuter in person. Anywho, This was my step dad's shirt, and I'm positive he doesn't know that I have it. Well, he will now! And I loved this whole bleaching process, it like a guessing game. It turned from navy blue, dark gray and burgandy to rose pink (the picture shows it being more orange, but it isn't in person), light pink, and dark pink. Who would have thought?

Supplies:

shirt

bleach

salt

washing machine 

detergent

sewing machine or needle and thread

thread

scissors

flexible measuring tape

fabric pen or marking chalk

iron

pins

 

Instructions:

1. Cut out collar and button part. Bring it in by using a tee shirt you like the fit of. I had to wear it backwards because cutting out the collar/button part created a big dip in the front. So, I took out some of the center to remove the dip. Then I cut off the bottom in a round shape, and left the bottom unhemmed  because knit doesn't really fray!

2. I didn't love the color...so , I bleached it! Pour 10 parts HOT water to 1 part bleach! I doubled all that. It took about 20 minutes to get it to how I wanted it. 

3. Squeeze out all the bleach water.

3. Then rinse it in cold water (I added salt....it said on the internet that it neutralizes the bleach, so what the heck). Then wash it in a washing machine with detergent and all.
