Inner Nerd

Just a quick project that I couldn't pass up when I bought it for 99 cents at savers. What a buy! Pleats, pink and floral..love. And I paired it with a top that I made more wearable (modest). All I did is take out a few pleats and because there was no zipper, I had to add some elastic in the back (ie starting from one side seam or the side of skirt to the other. Stretch the elastic as you sew a zig zag stitch) and next time I would have used wider elastic, probably as wide as the skirt's band.

  5. This is so helpful, thanks! I just recently bought a black pleated skirt at Goodwill that is adorable but way too big. Hopefully I can use this to fix mine! I love the colors in yours and the stripes/flowers combo!

  11. Hi Lizzie! I love your blog so much, you are so creative and adorable! I just had a question--have you ever tried hemming pleats, especially in thin poly materials like this one? I love finding pleated skirts at the thrifts but I'm 4'11", so hemming is almost always a must. I haven't had the nerve to try it yet though, so I was wondering if you had any tips!

    Thanks! --Joceline
