Yes yes yes, I refashion things a lot, but what a lot of you don't know is I de-refashion sometimes too! As well as re-refashion! In this case, I took a floral button up top that I refashioned (took out the collar and made it slimmer) way back when during granny chic week, and put the collar back in! It is crazy how much trends come and go, I swear some go so quickly. Thus a re or de - refashioning may be in order even when something has been trendified from your wardrobe!
Refashion tip - If you love a few different ways to refashion something you don't have to completely limit it to one, keep your options open. Hold onto that collar you chopped off, or don't do too much chopping (just fold it under and sew, then if you want the collar lady you can seam rip it!). If you are taking something in but not sure if you want to keep it high waisted, then don't do any chopping. Just top stitch the excess down and be on your way! Keep the excess sleeve that you chopped off, maybe later you will decide you want them longer.
Leave room to de/re-refashion!
you look so chic in this look. you really are a beautiful pregnant woman, and still sewing, which is awesome!

I always adore your refashions and re-refashions! :) You inspire me to go find beautiful fabrics and clothes at the thrift stores and not worry about what they look like on... There's always the possibility of a sewing machine and cutting to make it fab! Now if only I could be a better seamstress.... Sigh. I'll just stick with taking it to a professional. lol

You just look so fresh and pretty in yellow and floral! Any advice for refashioning a vintage short sleeved flowy peasant blouse? I was thinking about cutting it shorter in the front to avoid looking like pregnant mama from the '80's since I'm done having babies:) what do you think? Is that trend going to be here for a while? Any better ideas? I already took it in on the side seams but still getting a maternity vibe...
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your advice-I love yOur blog:)

I LOVE the pattern of your shirt. Could not agree any more about your re-fashioning tips. I do lots of fashion DIY's but my favorite ones are those that are removable/temporary for versatile uses.
