Quick DIY projects for the 4th of July

A few days left before the big patriotic day...so here are some quick DIY projects you can pull out before. I did one of these myself and loved the turn out....will be posting it tomorrow. Until then, try one of these out for you, or your boyfriend/hub, or one of your babes. You'll all looking so dang patriotic!

1.  Nasty Gal -
Buy knit red and white stripe material & blue with white stars material and follow this tutorial here.
2. Free People -
First ombre a gray sweatshirt with black dye (tutorial here), then buy screen print iron-on transfer paper and print and iron a flag image in a heart shape.
3. Current Elliot & 4. Current Elliot -
Buy a star rubber stamp or make one by slicing out a star in a rubber eraser or something equivalent. Dab the star in fabric paint then stamp it onto the shirt or pants.
Buy mod podge fabric, striped fabric, and star fabric. Cut out the fabric to match the shoe's pattern exactly, then coat the pieces and stick them onto the shoe. Let dry, then coat the top of the fabric and let dry.
6. Topshop -
Buy red and white striped fabric & blue and white stared fabric. Trace the fabric with a fabric pen onto the front of the shorts, then cut out the fabric. Add a quarter inch extra along all the edges. Fold all the edges under a quarter inch, so it should fall nicely on the seams of the shorts, and there will be no fraying. Pin and sew a topstitch all around the border of the new fabric.
7.  Dorothy Perkins -
Mark off the stripes first then paint red stripes with red fabric paint making sure to leave the navy blue section unpainted (tutorial here). Once that is dry, mark off the navy blue section in a box shape, and cut stars from tape or freezer paper and place them inside the navy paint area. Paint with navy blue fabric paint . Or mark and paint of the navy blue section entirely and stamp white stars after the navy blue paint dries (like in step 3&4).

  4. That is so cute! I love it that patriotic themed accessories are coming back in! Even here in Denmark, they have shirts with the American flag - which I think is kind of adorable.
