DIY pillow sham into cute top refashion

11 Q qa1 AQAQAQq1IMG_3122IMG_3124IMG_3121 Because of my flooded basement, I have had zero projects to do, due to everything being packed up into boxes. And to add on top of that...I'm on vacation! So, I've been craving a project with no prospects in mind. And that is where I found an white, eyelet trim pillow sham! And this top was born! I love how it turned out, something perfect and feminine for my fourth of July. Keep in mind it will be a shorter top, but it can get pretty wide.
Supplies: pillow sham with envelope back preferably (you can make it open if you don't) scissors pins sewing machine thread iron Instructions: 1. chop off the two shorter sides. 2. cut one side of the sham , leaving the trim attached to one of the sides. Then repeat with the other side. So, front and back side of the sham will have trim on the bottom. SHAM IMG_2794IMG_2795 3. seam rip the middle back trim from the flaps. Seam rip bottom of the flap's hems open an inch or so. Then cut the trim to the length of the opened flap. After the trim has been extended, flip the back flap to sit straight to the trim, and sew the two together, make sure to seam rip the hem open at the bottom, and sew the trim to the very edge. Then cut extra off. IMG_2804 6. fold, iron and hem the edges to make a new hem. IMG_2807IMG_2808 IMG_2809 7. Cut the neckline as short as you need, then hem the neckline and sleeves. IMG_2928
