Lower your waistband tutorial + wide leg pants love

IMG_3740IMG_3667 IMG_3720 Starred Photos370 IMG_3724 IMG_3745 Obsessed with all the pretty wide leg pants out there right now, when I saw these bright ones, I had to snatch them up and alter them! They were only 1 size too big, so I took it in using this tutorial here, then lowered the waistband! It was easier than I thought it would be! Now if only I could convince my husband to love wide leg pants. Supplies: Pair of pants sewing machine pins thread scissors Instructions: 1. Seam rip the waistband open, unzip the pants. Then cut the waistband out so it makes kind off a bias tape. 2. Cut the waistband down to where you want the waistband to be….minus the amount of your waistband width. 20130819_152439 3. Sew in your waistband by opening up the waistband and pinning/sewing the back half inside of the waistband to the top edge of the pants. Make sure everything lines up (take in the pants or the waistband before you join the edges together). 20130819_153223 4. Flip the band up and topstitch the edge of the original waistband down with the newly joined seam on the inside flipped up to be caught in the topstitch. 20130819_153246
