DIY watercolor lip art for your V-day decor

IMG_6494title I love Valentine's day and even more, I love valentine's day decor! All about pinks and reds and hearts and love. Just plays to my feminine ways. When I thought of a fun v-day decor this year, I really wanted something I could keep in my office year round. Though I don't have any (literally any) experience with painting or whatnot, I gave it a go and thought it was fun! I will say when I tried it in a smaller size, it was much easier, so if you are nervous about watercoloring, go for a smaller image. Happy pre-v-day! IMG_6491IMG_6464IMG_6498IMG_6462 Supplies: canvas (I picked one up at savers for $5 and painted it white) *optional - my clip art picture below or make your own pencil and eraser watercolor or gouache paint (I used gouache) paint brushes water Instructions: 1. Find an image of lips you like or just make one up yourself. I hand drew one based of an iconic lips print. 2. Trace or draw the image onto your canvas or whatever you are planning on painting the final art onto. If you want to use mine, print off the one below and make it the size you want, you can enlarge it when you print it. I had to enlarge mine 3x the size. 3. After you have your outlined image ready to go, then grab your paint and lightly outline the image. Then slowly fill it in. This is where you can let your creative juices flow....make these lips look how ever you like. I liked the lips to not look perfect with in the lines and I liked adding pink splotches around the image. Make it your own. Especially when you are like me and you have basically no artistic ability, you can make it look however you like and it will work out!   IMG_6391lip trace pencillip traceIMG_6402IMG_6464
