I love this hair do because it takes a quick 10 minutes or so and it lasts for days. It also looks so carefree and easy, perfect for Summer! It can easily dress up a simple outfit consisting of a tee, sneakers, and skinnies or it can totally give off a fun 70's vibe with high waisted wide leg jeans, chunky wedges and a hint of crochet. The possibilities are endless! My favorite hairdo because of the versatility!

1. After the shower add some product like mouse or light weight gel throughout your hair.
2. Brush through.
3. Air dry or bow dry…make sure it is completely dry.
4. Separate your hair into sections. I just split it into half in the back and slowly work my way forward.
5. With a 1" wide straight iron, take 1" square sections (if your hair is thinner, then thicker sections), starting in the back and underneath. With each section, first straighten the roots and slide a few inches down (or half way down your hair section) where you will quickly twist the iron 180 degrees - 360 degrees (this depends on how tight you want the curl). Continue to slide the iron down the rest of the hair still in the twist of the iron, all the way till the roots slip out.
6. Repeat through the rest of the hair, working your way to your bangs.
7. I run my fingers or a brush through my hair.
8. Lightly use a mold, pomade, or wax to help keep the curls.

Good tutorial! I don't have a curl iron, just a flat iron and it's so hard to make curls with it, but your tutorial is easier than others I've seen! :)
ReplyDeleteI have tried to do this a few times w/out success but I'm going to try again with your instructions. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteLove the zebra flat iron! Great tutorial. -Heidi http://fabricandfrosting.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteOk. I've tried this before and it only made my straight hair straighter...lol! So either, 1) my hair defies all styling or 2)I'm doing something wrong. I'm going to give this another go though. The curls you got looks so fresh and natural. Do you have a specific product you use to help your hair hold the curl?
ReplyDeleteReally cool! Gonna try this out one day when my hair is longer. Love the zebra design!

Love curling my hair this way. I had trouble with it at first until I realized that I needed to really slow down at the end to get the curl.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those girls with long hair that always seem to find myself putting it in a bun! Boo. Perhaps it is the librarian in me. Thank you so much for this tutorial. Finally, I can attempt some style.
