I've always loved jewelry, but I've never really made them before. So, that is why I made these tutorials super easy, i.e. no need for pliers or tools like that. All you need is glue and needle and thread (unless you are anything like me, then you will use a sewing machine any chance you get). I think my favorite of these 3 is the little triangle charm necklace, you could wear it every day with what ever you want. These can all be made under 10 minutes with very very little leather. Great presents might I add!
Supplies:
glue
chain
leather
needle and thread (or sewing machine)
bobby pins or paper clips
Instructions:
Layered leather fringe necklace:
1. Cut a rectangle that is about 7"x2"-3"
2. Cut in half.
3. Flip one piece over and see the front piece onto the back piece.
4&5. Cut fringe with a rotary cutter and mat or scissors. Cut fringe all the way to the top of the fringe that will be in the back and cut the fringe on the front piece just till an inch from the seen seam.
6. Cut you fringed leather into whatever shape you like or shorten it if you like. I cut mine into a triangle.
7. Place the necklace in the just above the seam on the backside of the front piece. Fold the piece in of center so the seam is hidden in the back about a half inch from the top. I used Bobby pins to keep the fringe down while I sewed. I sewed it closed with my machine but you can glue or hand stitch it closed.
Triangle leather banner necklace:
1. Cut 6 to 8 diamond pieces after taking them into the back of the leather. Cut them out by using a rotary cutter or scissors.
2. Place the chain in the middle of the diamond and glue one side of the diamond making sure not to get the glue on the chain.
3. Press the two ends of the diamond together.
4. Secure and let dry with Bobby pins out paper clips. Then remove.
For the triangle charm leather necklace, look at the pictures above for help:
1. Cut out a little diamond shape.
2. Place the necklace in the center.
3. Glue one end of it and fold it in half. Try but to get glue on the chain.
4. Let it set with Bobby pins or paper clips pressing the ends together.
So simple and so cute. I might even add a button or small trim item to the triangles. This wouldn't be heavy, or cumbersome. Great idea! xo
