My Personal Lipstick Collection and Guide
FYI - ALL lipsticks were given to me by my mom...I'm one of those lucky daughters that get all the makeup samples and rejects that my mom hates. Score!! Oh and thanks mom, you're the best. Anyway...
1. Lancome strawberry dore (disc.) - this is an orangey-red that matches everything. It can be both dressy and a party! One of my favorites to where. Worn HERE.
2. Elizabeth Arden Poppy Cream Lipstick
- this is a deep red that I like to stick on to really spruce up a plain outfit or for a hot date. This particular lipstick lasts ALL day long. Worn HERE.

3. Estee Lauder Beige Shimmer Lipstick
- nude with a hint of purple. I wear this when I want to look more natural or is I have a loud outfit. Worn HERE.

4. Melaleuco Pink Sorbet - this is a light and natural coral looking lipstick, that I you can throw on with pretty much anything whether its a hot date or popping over to the grocery store. It is a very happy and fun lipstick, making me feel, well, happy and fun really. Worn HERE
5. Elizabeth Arden Fiesta Lipstick
- this is more of a deep purple/pink that makes me feel really dolled up, I make sure my eye makeup and blush are a little more neutral. Worn HERE.

6. & 7 Nuskin heather pink and Clinique Watermelon Lipstick

- these are my pure, fun pinks. I throw them on if I'm in a hurry and didn't have much time to get ready. I feel that they are a more vibrant version of my natural lip color, everyone needs a lipstick like that! Worn HERE

8. Estee Lauder Rich and Rosey Lipstick
- this is a deep pink that makes me feel really girly, I make sure my eye makeup and blush are a little more neutral. Worn HERE.

9. Estee Lauder Frosted Apricot Lipstick

10. Elizabeth Arden Cameo Lipstick
- everyone needs a nude in their lipstick collection, either because your outfit is crazy fun or your makeup is. It helps to make you not look too over the top. Or it can be combined with other lipstick's to create a new color. Worn HERE.

11. Nuskin honey sun - this matches my lip's natural color perfectly, making my lips look naturally more plump if I want! This will of course be different for eveyone, but very necessary. I like to slide it on when I want to look low key and not overdone. Tmi - I put it on sometimes at night when I have no make up on....oh ya honey...I'm totally not wearing makeup....totally. My lips are always this luscious *wink wink. Worn HERE.
If I had to pick 3 of these to wear forever....I would choose a coral (4 or 9), deep red (2), and fun pink (6 or 7)...ok and orangey-red (1)...I couldn't settle on 3. Everyone needs to have those colors in their collection.
Brandwise...the lesser known brands, cheaper brands, and glossier lipsticks (melaleuca and also the shimmer lipstick) don't last. The matte or semi glossy last the longest, most can last most of the day if I wanted it to, even after eating. The Lancome, Estee Lauder, Clinique, and Elizabeth Arden are amazing brands, I love how they didn't make my lips dry or chalky like other brands can (like the nu skin). I've tried MAC, and liked it too. All in all, if you want just a few lipsticks...I would fork out just a little extra for your favorite one or two, and play around with the cheaper ones.

I just don't know what brands really are "the best" and which color(s) would work for me.

I love this! I wear lipstick all the time: Cheap and expensive, nude and red and fuschia, matte and shiny. I think my absolute favorite ones are Mary Kay or Bare Escentuals' Simply Amazing. The Mary Kay one lasts forever, and leaves lip prints only on glassware (which gets the husband's stamp of approval!). The B.E. one just powerful. It leaves prints everywhere, but still somehow lasts about six hours. Great mix of picks, by the way!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm also a lucky daughter/niece: my uncle works for a B.E. so our whole family gets big 'ol boxes of new products when they come out, and we all trade when we get bored or whatever. It's the best!
My personal favorite is YSL Pur Couture, the colors last all day (it dries lips out a little bit though). And Georgio Armani new collection is particularly nice, it hydrates the lips, I have an orange-nude color. Pink really suits you but it doesn't work for me :(

Love this! There is nothing like lipstick to make you feel glamorous! I still remember being excited when my mom would let me wear her treasured estee lauder lipsticks as a young girl.
