My change in personality and a GIVEAWAY from one of my sponsors!

Since my birthday always falls on the last day of every year, it's easy to reflect on my past year of age because it conveniently happens to coincide with the previous year. I guess I haven't made a new year's resolution yet this year because I'm worried that when I sit down and make a list of things I want to change…I will reflect on all the things I haven't accomplished. So here I am, reflecting and making change. Thinking about the past year, I found I did a better good job of dejunking my life from stress (monetary, career driven, blog), refraining to judge and care about being judged, impatience, indecisiveness, and personal and career driven "walls."  The more and more I think about it, the more I realize my personality or "who I am" and my outlook on life are becoming more and more predictable and unchanging so now more than ever, I'm pretty desperate on tweaking it. I'm actually getting worried that this is who I will become completely. I don't want to stop evolving! I want to become more outgoing, fun, graceful, patient, etc., etc., etc. So I'm making a quick dash to the New Year's resolutions and diving deep into my psyche. To help me with this process, I’m going to take this ArchetypeMe quiz for fun, to see if I  am who I think I am.  I looked around the website and it makes me want to read the book Archetypes: Who Are You?, and scour their website for insight on life and others with the same personality as me.
Anyway, I still have a lot that I want to work on despite the great strides I've made over the last year. This year I will further work on the previously stated goals, but this year's main themes will be "never say never" (thank you Justin Bieber) and "break down your walls" (of indecisiveness, procrastination, perfectionism) and "let it go" (makes life so much easier in marriage and with the babes). Overall, I want to have a personality that my husband and my boys will want to be with, and find loving, carefree, and fun.

And now for the giveaway from my sponsor Archetype me! One lucky reader will win a $50 Visa gift card and a copy of Archetypes: Who Are You? book, signed by the author.

  18. VERY exciting! Why is it important to know who I am? Otherwise I won't be able to prioritize and decide which paths/ventures are worth my time. If you don't know who you are, how can you know where you want to go? Or should go? Oh there's so much to say. It gets into every aspect of life: relationships, family, career, living situations, environments... everything!

  25. I love this sentence: "I want to have a personality that my husband and my boys will want to be with, and find loving, carefree, and fun." That is where I am right now too.

It is important to know who you are--because for me this is important in prioritizing my life: 1. I am a daughter of God. 2. I am my husband's wife. 3. I am my son's mama. etc. And I need to live my life accordingly, and become the woman I am supposed to be in each of those roles.

Not sure about you, but I hate the last day of the year birthday -- I just feel that we skip out on a holiday but cramming both New Year celebrations and Birthday together, asking our loved ones to share their holiday as well. Oh well, the whole world celebrates...hard to complain!

Very inspirational post. If I may throw in my two cents, the fact that you are trying and putting forth the effort to change and grow is more important than the strides you have made.

  74. I think it’s essential to know who you are, even if you only understand yourself at the present time. It’s hard to love a stranger, especially when that stranger is ourselves. If we are aware of who we are it changes the way we spend money, eat, drink, think and, most importantly, love. If you don’t know who you are, you might pour your resources into creating a persona that doesn’t exist. Humans create excessive amounts of waste trying to put a personality together. It’s as if they a puzzle, but the pieces don’t fit and their lives are left scattered and incomplete. It’s empty and lonely when the skin you live in is unfamiliar. It also makes it harder to create a better world when you do not know what you’re capable of, because you end up doing the bare minimum. Without knowing who we are, we could never become what we are meant to be.

  84. Knowing who you are, translates into every aspect of your life. Our personality translates into our work, art, and relationships. By having confidence in who I am, I can do my best to live life to my fullest ability. I, like most people, have struggled with trying to figure out "who I am", "what is my purpose in life", "what are my dreams and aspirations". Once I become honest with who I am, I'm then able to see what it is I need to do to, simply put, just be happy.

  111. I think it is important to know who you really are, because who you really are is love. :) Once you realize you are not truly your reactions.. Impatience/irritability/wanting to be perfect, etc.., you can step away from them and say to yourself, ah, I am experiencing this emotion, but this does not define my true essence! This "stepping away" can immediately bring acceptance and change. Change comes from becoming aware of what is happening in that moment, at that moment, knowing you are being stirred up, but choosing to come from a different emotion... Compassion, love, understanding (of yourself and others) And also knowing who you are means being gentle with yourself, because change does not happen all at once! We get to choose at every moment. :) And sometimes we choose that which we are not happy with, but that's ok, because we know we want more, and there is always next time...

Thank you for this chance to win! Also, your blog is my favorite sewing blog! I just love what you come up with and madly adore your style. :)
